Today is John James Audubon's birthday (1785-1851), which for any bird lover is quite the celebration. Audubon is known for his detailed drawings and paintings of birds in North America. He eventually published Birds of America, which contains 435 life size prints; a step toward his life goal of painting every known North American bird.

Mr. Audubon was a renowned ornithologist, artist, and conservationist. Even in his time, the nature lover warned of the destruction of birds and the habitats that support them. His love for wild places continued to develop as he documented bird life, creating quite the legacy. A legacy that has been carried over to the conservationists of today. The Audubon Society was inspired by his creative passion, and the non-profit is dedicated to conserving and restoring our natural ecosystems.
